Mom, I have a headache!

Sometimes the headache is in the front of your head, sometimes behind your eyes, sometimes on the top of your head. But no matter where your headache is, it can really be painful!

Kids, when you get headaches, here are a couple of tricks Dr. Brad says you can do to help yourself.

  1. Go get a big, big cup of water (no ice!) right away. Start sipping that water until it’s all gone.
  2. Once you have your cup of water, go sit down and get quiet in a comfortable place. This will help your body begin to calm down. Try just sitting for awhile in a quiet spot away from computers, TVs, and bright indoor lights.
  3. If you still have a headache after drinking water and sitting quietly, ask an adult to help you make a warm footbath. Keep your feet in the bath for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Finally, a few bites of quality meat protein or a baked potato might also help your headache.

Remember, whenever something in your body hurts or doesn’t feel right it’s your body trying to tell you something isn’t quite right. The better you listen to what your body is telling you, the better we can help your body heal itself.

If you’re a kid and have  a lot of consistent headaches, make sure you tell Dr. Brad during your next appointment. He’ll want to help your body with those headaches.
